Paul Josey, PLA, ASLA, Principal

Paul co-founded Wolf | Josey Landscape Architects and leads a diverse range of commercial, civic, academic and institutional projects primarily throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. He has particular knowledge and experience in urban and campus design, construction, soils, native plants and rainwater reuse. Paul received his Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Maryland and completed post-graduate work in Landscape Architecture at the University of Virginia. He is a registered landscape architect in the states of Virginia and Maryland and an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and International Society of Arboriculture.

BACKGROUND
As a project manager for seven years at Nelson Byrd Woltz, he focused on various award winning urban and institutional projects. Before that, he was a designer and project manager at Urban Trees + Soils in Annapolis, Maryland where his work focused on innovative rainwater, soil and planting detailing at urban parks and residential projects.

Additional work experience ranges from local and regional planning in Monteverde, Costa Rica to mixed-use and community master planning in New Delhi to residential construction in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is the chair of the Charlottesville Tree Commission as well as the TREE Fund’s Tree and Soil Research Fund, an Eagle Scout and a contributor to the book, Up By Roots: Healthy Soils and Trees in the Built Environment by James Urban.
