Wolf Josey recognizes that all landscapes have an impact on communities and the environment.
Our practice brings thoughtful design and ecological responsibility to every project regardless of size. Each project is an opportunity to bring a sense of optimism, place, craftsmanship, and stewardship into the design of the land.
CONTEXT | Our process begins by developing a thorough understanding of each site’s milieu.
We seek inspiration from a site's cultural influences, natural systems, and topographic distinctions. Archival and field research help us reveal a site's history and latent qualities. Our designs merge these underpinnings with the programmatic requirements to create a strong synthesis of people and place.
CARE | Landscapes are sustained through intelligent planting design and healthy soils.
Through collaborations with other disciplines, builders, and landscape caregivers, we combat the challenges that construction, high public-use, and a changing climate pose to long-term plant health. We recognize maintenance is essential to realizing any design vision and value opportunities to remain involved in management planning as landscapes mature and evolve.
CRAFT | The sum of the many subtle decisions that go into detailing a project shape how it feels to inhabit a space.
Through continuous iteration, we refine each aspect of a design to create cohesive, aesthetically-rich, and well-built spaces that draw people in. We collaborate with builders and makers to develop distinct and lasting site elements.
