Stonypoint Meadows

Located in the Virginia piedmont, the design draws heavily from the existing site and context to create a dynamic, low cost native landscape for the owner, a single professional interested in creating a spiritual retreat for her historic 1750s home. The design used landform and planted form as the primary tools for creating place within this five-acre site. Two acres of mown lawn were converted to meadow, transforming an otherwise uninspiring landscape into a series of gardens and outdoor rooms designed to take advantage of site’s assets including western mountain views, extensive tree plantings, and two acres of woodland.
